| With the festive season almost upon us, we thought it would be
fun to find out what some of our Go Figure pals are up to over
the Christmas and New Year period. Who's going to veg
out and who's going to stay in shape?! We'd love to hear what you have planned! What are you looking forward to eating most on Christmas day? are you going to be doing any training? maybe you just want to wish someone a Merry Christmas! Leave us a reply at the bottom of the page. NB you'll first need to log in at the bottom right hand corner to post your reply. Thanks! |

| Myer Rose 1. Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day? Typically Ill knock out a 20-30 minute HIT session- first thing on an empty stomach to pump my metabolism up for the day of calories to come. Plus I significantly drop my carb intake for 3 days prior to confuse my energy systems, so they are welcome on Xmas day. 2. Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day? Definitely don't restrict myself on Xmas day. In my off-season, I allow myself 2 free days (where I eat whatever I want within in reason- in addition to my nutritious meals) anyhow so no foods are ever restricted. I'll definitely be on the look-out for strawberries covered in melted white or milk chocolate though- perfect combo of indulgence and vitality. Always more rewarding to eat these types of foods when you've exercised some solid self-discipline on the lead-up. |

| 3. If you could ask
Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it
be? Quad assistance please! Weakest point would be sheer lack of mass on my legs. Some German volume of late (10 sets x 10 reps @ 80% of 1RM of squats) seems to be doing the business at the moment. Now I'm in my early 30's, blessing me with a metabolism of my early 20's would be beneficial too! 4. If you could invite 3 famous icons to Christmas dinner, who would they be and why? Arnold Schwarzenegger- he was a hero growing up from a very early age who had that "super hero" physique and has built a successful career on top of it all. I think it was Conan the Barbarian that first got my attention. Rich Gaspari would also be a pick- just listening to him makes you feel like you've dropped a giant serve of his pre-workout energy drink SuperPump250- talk about motivational! Lastly, another childhood hero was Hulk Hogan. I was just in my last year at primary school when the WWF got my attention. I think he'd be a colourful addition to Xmas dinner and have some awesome stories from his glory days on the wrestling scene and transition to date. 5. Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio? Plan on heading away with my wife and daughter to Cottage on Cooks Beach for 10 days. No doubt Ill knock over a few HITT sessions on the beach early mornings but will give the weights a good rest over this period. Ill need it after all this German Volume training! |

I will probably take the opportunity to have a rest from the weights between Xmas and New Years as I may head away for a few days break. The rest will do me good as I haven't had much of a break from training since I finished competing in October. But always try and keep the cardio up at this time of year to help with the extra food and alcohol intake... Off season is the hardest for a bodybuilders head space at the best of times and being Xmas can very easily just become an excuse for over indulgence! |

Naera Johnson Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day? I'll be house and dog sitting, so I'll probably just do a doggie walk, it'll be good for us both. Are you going to pig
out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas
day? |

If you could ask Santa to change one area of your
physique, what would it be? If you could invite 3 famous icons to
Christmas dinner, who would they be and why? I have some big plans for next year with competing so will be taking 10 days off the gym at Christmas while away, and looking forward to it. I am learning to listen to my body and believe rest is just as important as training. Have made so many gains with incorporating more rest into my training schedule. |
