It's been about three months since I had the dreaded "devil stick" removed and I'm almost a completely different person!
I've noticed quite a few changes already and as my body normalises, I can only imagine what's to come! Firstly, the brain fuzz has gotten heaps better and I'm finding I'm able to focus a lot better than before which is making me far more productive.
And despite some pretty hard times personally over the past few months, as well as some pretty hard dieting (which in the past has been a handy excuse for my sometimes snappy and intolerant tendencies) my moods have been pretty stable. I'm sure I wouldn't have coped as well in my pre-Mirena days!
And as for the body, well if you've seen the photos from my three recent shows you'll know I've undergone a huge transformation! Of course that's not all just attributed to the Mirena removal - I've worked damned hard, and combining those factors with Lisa's super skills in changing up my diet and training I was destined to make a big change!
My goal for Nationals was to come in looking significantly better than my previous show during the year and I feel like I did that so I was incredibly happy - and even happier with my placing!
So after Nationals I decided to compete at North Harbour and I came in leaner still and had an absolute blast, so there was only one thing to do... That's right - compete for a third time, this time in Taranaki at the INBA show. It was so much fun - a great way to end a long hard year of dieting and training, emotional highs and lows, hormonal ups and downs and working on a whole new me!
What now? Well now that I'm no longer competing as a Novice, I have a lot of work to do to get anywhere near Open class standard so I'm going to take some time to do just that! And as I attempt to grow and improve my physique, I also intend to find the balance between bodybuilding and life outside bodybuilding that I've mostly neglected this year... Watch this space!
