12 March. In the afternoon we returned back to Dohertys to train and hopefully spot more Pros.  We're such stalkers...or I should say me!   once again we were pleasantly surprised to see Kai Greene training hamstrings in the back of the gym.

He was wearing trackpants and a hoody, he must've been hot as its about 30 degrees in the gym.  Perhaps it helped with his dehydration.

The gym is a great place to train as its full of inspirational posters and memorabilia which are hung up on the wall.

Tomorrow is the Pro show, can't wait to see what these guys will reveal underneath their tracksuits!!

Within an hour of arriving, Dexter Jackson, Melvin Anthony and Lee Priest enter the room and us kiwis were all in bodybuilding heaven and in awe of their large muscles.

12 March. Early Flight.
Was a nice to see the team and supporters on the 6.30am flight from Auckland to Melbourne. The 3.5hr hour flight gave us all a good chance to catch up and chat about all things bodybuilding.   Grant and Mike were looking lean and mean and contest ready.  While Sesa was looking awesome for her Pro debut next week.  She revealed her bod to us at the gym later in the day and all I can say is WOW.

Who'll win the kiwi battle

Mike Kingsnorth vs Grant Pieterse???

10 March: 3 days to go and the excitement is building for the Australian Grand Prix.

Sure, most of the auditorium will be looking forward to the battle between the leading contenders Kai Greene, Dexter Jackson and Melvin Anthony but the kiwis in the audience will be curious at the battle between our local hunks Mike Kingsnorth and Grant Pieterse.

Grant, who competed at last year's event will be aiming to improve on his condition from Pro debut last year.  He went into this event with some health issues which resulted in him looking a little smoother than he'd like.  With another year of training under his belt, we're sure he'll bring something new to the stage.  As we have not seen him for quite some time, we're sure he's built more mass on his great structure but as you know boys and girls, its not about size, its the condition that counts.

Mike last competed at the Aussie Pro in 2008, since then he's had problems with his knee and recently a calf issue.  But that hasn't stopped Mike going hard out with his training. This year, he's making some changes to his diet which Mike hopes will help him come in harder. From his past contests, we know he has the potential to, its just a matter of putting it altogether on the day.

Head to head, Grant might have the edge on Mike for his size and structure.  But Mike is a great poser and is confident on the stage which sometimes makes the difference between winning and losing.  But if Grant can come in the condition he did when he won the NZFBB CNI's in 08 then he could place high.

One of our Hamilton spies has said "Grant has never come in so dry and Vascular as he is right now, he's brought his quads up alot since last year.  I think Mike's not the only one who better be looking out for Grant.  I reckon theres a possible top 6 placing if he nails it on the day.  Looking forward to seeing what Mike brings too."

Either way, we look forward to seeing these kiwi hunks mix it with the International contenders.

We also want to wish Steve Papps all the best of luck as he competes in the amateur section of the Australian Pro!

Make sure you check back regularly to see our updates from Melbourne!!

5 March: 1 week to go until the 10th Anniversary of the Melbourne IFBB Grand Prix and we're excited at the upcoming muscly action!

Tony Doherty has announced that they'll be a best posing award and our own Grant Pieterse has added his name to the lineup.

"This award is sponsored by Contest Color to celebrate their 25th anniversary in business. Phil Kabakoff and a few Aussie mates have put up $2500 plus a nice trophy. We have Kai, Melvin and Dexter and Rusty in the show, plus there might be some surprises with $ at stake. Lets get it on.

Plus Add Kiwi Grant Pieterse to the list, he promises to have stepped up enormously from last year when he made his pro debut! Aussie Ivan Sadek has also confirmed he'll be competing."

Lisa will be spotting every photo op and posting pics of the pros before, during and post contest so make sure you check back to this page regularly for the latest news and stories.

Coupled with all the Pros competing, we're also looking forward to snapping and hopefully interviewing a couple of legends Rich Gaspari and Lee Priest who'll be making an appearance at the show.

Its going to be a memorable one for sure!
