25 May: This is it! the final week of contest preparation for the kiwi team. By all reports all the team are feeling and looking great and hanging out for the Gold Coast sunshine...and the competition.  The team's first get together will be at the registration on Friday night where we'll also get a (huge) team photo taken. Will be great for all the team to meet each other so they know who to cheer on on contest day.

As you can see Sheryl Paterson (right, in photo shoot for
starfish swimwear) is looking pretty hot and sexy and ready to hit the stage!

10 days to go and Rede Frisby is taking care of the final details of his contest preparation. Here's a glimpse at his blog for more go here

"Obviously you can do all the hard work in the gym BUT it's your presentation on the stage that will go along way to determining the final outcome. Aside from the posing and the tanning which most people seem curious enough to ask about. Another area I concern myself with is hair removal lol

Now being a alpha typical male I thought hair removal was something for sissys when I first started in this game but looking at other competitors - some with better hair presentation than others shall we say; Ive come to realise you dont want an 'all-over-5'oclock shadow' under lights when the judges are looking at you. It just obscures too much hard earned muscle definition (for some of us more than others)!" Read More

9 May: 16 of the 37 athletes competing at the ANB comp got together today for a posing session. So we took the opportunity to take a team photo. Big team huh, think of how big the real team photo is when the rest of team join in!
It was great to catch up with some of the team and for the athletes to mingle among themselves.  There was a positive team spirit with everyone getting excited about the event.  All the athletes are looking great and should be pretty hot by contest time.

The girls were a little shy in front of the cameras but the boys were cool (well hope they are now!).
Darrin Brown (right) is looking very muscular and lean, the Aussies should be very worried.  David and Wayne (below right) will also be great in their respect classes.

Bring it on!!

3 May: Tory Holmes and Mark Batty from Christchurch are also part of the team.  Both Tory and Mark competed in last year's NZFBB SI Champs. Plus we have 3 new figure additions to the team. Another figure gal from Auckland and 2 from Christchurch.  Which poses Ali G a dilemma as she has to find more uniforms.  She has also told us that there's 11 kiwi girls in to the novice figure class. We may suggest to these athletes that they go into height or master's class so we can have a more classes to cheer for!

Teresa's Routine

28 Apr: Teresa to give ANB a Go!
Teresa Edwards, NZ's Shape Queen has finally let us reveal that she'll be competing in the SportsModel Class. Teresa is a multi National Winner of the NABBA Shape class and we look forward to see how she figures against the Aussie models.

She'd like to thank her sponsor, Balance, for all their support and supplying her products since 2007.

Lisa and Teresa
Have we mentioned that Lisa from Go Figure is also going? who else will be taking happy snaps?!!!

Giselle (left) who placed 3rd in the Novice Figure Short class at the NABBA Akl will also be part of the 34 strong kiwi team.

right: Vanessa and Jason Bartly with Ali G (team manager) at the NABBA Akls.

22 Apr: Chiselled couple Vanessa and Jason Bartley from Whangamata have also thrown their bodies into the Gold Coast.  Vanessa placed 2nd in the Nov Fig short while Jason won the Nov Athletic tall class at NABBA Nationals 09.

20 Apr: Donelle Petelo (left) is joining the team!. Donelle, a Balance rep and Mum of 3, first competed in 08 and since has done 4 comps and looking forward to her 5th on the Gold Coast.

Vanessa and Jason

16 Apr: Teneka Hyndman (right), who won the amateur figure section of the recent NZ Pro, has decided to turn down the offer of a Pro card to compete at the ANB Asia Pacific Champs.  Teneka has competed in 27 shows and has placed top 3 in all but 4 shows, an awesome achievement for her!

As you may, or may not know, Teneka took last year off from competing as she had broken her arm during an arm wrestle. Judging by her figure at the Pro show, doesn't look like Teneka has lost any of her trademark full delts and lean structure. We look forward to seeing her up against the Aussies.

15 Apr: Modelling the NZ Team uniforms this week are Tina Dunlop and Buck from Greytown. As you can see the girls uniform are slightly different to the guys but still just as distinctive.

Tina and Buck, owners of Greytown Health and Fitness studio, are long time competitors and competed at the INBA Taupo Champs last year.

11 Apr: 7 weeks to go and the spunky NZ Team uniforms have been sent to all the athletes.  Ali G did a great job with the design and embroidery of the sponsors' logos.  She didn't sew these herself ofcourse..eventhough she is amazing.

Our hot model is Rede Frisby with his gear on which includes Cap, T shirt and shorts posing in front of his gym in Invercargill. Hopefully we'll have more pics of the team in their uniforms.

  Team Additions. 5 April Update:
Karen Kissell of Nelson had an outstanding 2009 taking out the NZFBB South Island and National Novice Short Figure titles, along with the NABBA 'Top of the South' Overall Figure and NABBA Sen Fig 35+ National Titles.  This year she joins part of a very strong South Island and NZ team to take on the figure battle at the ANB.

Christine Chin, joins the NZ team after having competed on her own at the ANB Figure class in Sydney where she placed 3rd in 2008.

31 March:  3 time NZFBB NZ Open Figure short champ Sheryl Patterson is one of a huge team from Chch heading off to the ANB Champs. Erena Young, who competed at the NZ Amateur and Pro show, is also going to the Gold Coast. She's made an awesome transition from her showing at the NABBA Waikato in 09.

Mum of 3 Jacque Pederson, who placed 3rd in a huge line up in Nov Fig Tall, in last years' event is back to hopefullyplace higher. We will also see the hard physique of Julie Harris back to muscle in on the Aussies!
Plus there's the recent revealing of Wellington physique queen Mandi Matheson.

The total team of 34 athletes includes 3 lots of couples. Totalling 9 guys and 25 girls!!

7 Mar: The big news is that Balance supplements have come onboard as the principle sponsor of the team.

Balance will be instrumental in helping to deck out the 34 strong NZ team in really cool uniforms which Ali Gascoine has sourced. Co sponsors of the team will be AliGz Bikinis and Go Figure!

We have seen the uniforms and one word FLASH!!!!  we think the team is going to look pretty special in it.  It'll be out to the team end of March. We'll wait till then to show it to Go Figure viewers.

While many of the 34 strong team are still adamant to reveal that they will be competing at the show, last year's team member Niki Taylor does not mind revealing her plans this year. We do know Niki's part of a huge Chch team who'll be going over.

Niki who competed in the Sportsmodel class in 09 will be aiming to get back to her Figure shape this year.  Amazingly, this year will be Niki's 20th anniversary of competition!  she hardly looks old enough to be around that long.

Rede Frisby and Delwyn Evans are 2 others who will also be competing.  We also know there's a strong team from the Whangamata/Thames region. We've seen these athletes in action in 09 and we feel they'll be very competitive against the Aussies.

  Congratulations Ali!

Ali has been inducted into the ANB Hall of Champions!!!
Awesome, the only kiwi on an Australian site.

Check out her story here

Go Figure attended this event last year with a team of hot kiwi ladies and it was a fantastic show.  The event was well run, athlete focused and everyone had fun. This show is drug tested. Guys, we didn't see too many super huge men in the various classes so if you want to give it a go, you could be very competitive.
