Are you wondering how to rev up your metabolism and enhance your fat loss? Then wonder no more. The following foods and diet ideas are some ways you can get some fat melting off your body - if you can handle the heat that is!

Eat Chilli. Chilli flakes or Cayenne Pepper can help you super charge your fat burning by increasing your metabolic rate. Just by sprinkling some chilli flakes into your food can burn up to 300kj.

This is called the "Thermic effect". You can add chilli to your stir fry chicken and /or vegetables to help enhance the flavour of your meal. Furthermore, chilli is also rich in vitamins, minerals, stimulates the circulation and assists disgestion by stimulating the production of hydroclaoric acid in the stomach. Interestingly, once you start to use chilli you tend to lose cravings for sweet foods and develop a taste for hot spicy foods instead.

Drink Coffee / Caffeine. Coffee can rev up your metabolic rate and release stored fat to be burned as energy. Drinking black coffee before your aerobic workouts increases the level of fatty acids in the blood and has been shown to boost fat oxidation.

Also the conversion of fat to energy is about 30% more efficient when caffeine is consumed prior to exercise. As the body will primarily burn fat for fuel, it reduces your body's reliance on glyogen, glucose and amino acids so your blood sugar remains higher for longer.

Drink Water. Drink at least 1 litre of water during exercise and another 2 during the day. Drinking lots of water will help to transport fat out of your system, flush out waste products and maintain normal hormonal balance.

Eat a variety of foods. Try and vary your diet with different foods as research has shown that thermogenesis is higher for unfamiliar foods. During your diet you should cycle between chicken, fish, tuna and lean meat so that your body produces different enzymes that will enhance your fat loss goals.

L-Carnitine. You can't burn fat without L-Carnitine in your cells. L-Carnitine helps transport fatty acids through the cell membrane into the mitochondria within the cell where they are burned for fuel. Consequently, L-Carnitine spares muscle tissue and carbohydrates from being used as fuel during periods of intense exercise. Animal flesh, especially steak, has the highest levels of L-Carnitine. However, in times of dieting we want to limit consumption of red meat as it contains high amounts of fat. L-Carnitine supplementation is the best way to get around this problem. It is recommended you take 250-1000mcg of L-Carnitine per day.

Chromium Picolinate. Chromium enhances the function of of insulin which helps in the regulation of protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Chromium has been shown to assist in weight loss, suppress appetite, increase energy and fights fatigue. The best natural sources of chromium are brewer's yeast, raw wheat germ, meat and shellfish. However, the best way to safeguard against chromium deficiency is through supplementation where a hard working figure should take between 200mcg - 400mcg per day.

Whey Protein. By increasing your protein through a high quality whey protein, you're in a better position to give your body the nutrients it needs to increase muscle mass. As your muscles burn alot more energy at rest than fat it will be more advantageous for you to try and increase muscle mass so you can burn more fat!
