The NABBA Akl Champs saw the return of a long lost figure, Jacqueline Lewis. Jacqueline had been sidelined by illness for the past 2 and a half years. Although she was still involved with bodybuilding through judging and marshalling etc, it was the stage that Jacquie loved being on.  So it was fantastic to see her back up there enjoying her moment in the spotlight alongside Kat Hall in the Open Figure class, which Kat won.

Kat was in great condition as always, dedicating herself to a good clean diet over the christmas and holiday season with the aim of going to the Worlds this year.  She's picked in the team so good luck to her if she goes!

Also notable mention must go to Teresa Edwards who wowed us with her new toned down figure in the shape class in this comp. We can see she's really put in the effort to present a very athletic body to go with her ever sexy routine. Scott Payne from Rotorua in the novice athletic class must've given Tom Wojick a close battle for the overall.  Scott had good full and still vascular muscle but it was Tom seasoned physique that took out the overall title.  Good to see a new guy on the block!
(Trophy girl) Lisa B and Shelly
The other close call was the Novice Figure class. At first we thought it was judged in 2 classes ie Novice Short and Tall but evening show we found it was judged as one.  So it really came down to Julia and Shelly.  Julia had good muscle fullness while Shelly was in great condition. In the end Julia outmuscled Shelly but it was great to see a good line up of all the girls in this class.

Also want to acknowledge the efforts of the dynamic athletic duo of Andrew Murray and Greg Mawson. These guys are amazing (or crazy!), they train, travel and compete at shows together and have at least 6 shows in mind this year.  Plus they're organising the NABBA Hawke's Bay comp.  Busy boys indeed, well done!

The show was run differently.  All the girls were first, then all the boys. A bit different but it worked and it made more space in the pump up room. I wonder if they'll continue with this format.

Thanks to Peter Hardwick and NABBA for letting me happy snap and sharing my pics with you!

Enjoy,
