It was another precision like military operation from NABBA Waikato organiser and Master of Ceremony, Shelly Boyes. Ofcourse we didn't expect anything less and she certainly delivered to her usual high standards. Shelly had an army of helpers who were there well ahead of the morning show to make sure everything was at the ready for competitors. The show began at 1pm and all the athletes were slickly moved through the classes, to finish by 3pm.
Teresa and Lisa
The night show, which began at 6.30pm, was also a super production which began with the funky dance crew of Urban Beat featuring Jamie and Naera dancing with the group. By the time the show finished at 9.30pm we had been treated to an array of great bodies.

Some brand new bods on the circuit. Particularly that of Dean and Rick in the Nov and Open Athletic classes respectively. Phew! talk about HOT.  These guys were in great condition and considering Dean's only 22 and already has striated glutes, he has a big future in that class if he decides to keep going.  Meanwhile, Rick from Canada, has the most freaky quads I've seen for ages.  He has striations on striations.

Overall Winners
Not many physiques and figure girls in this show but the calibre was fantastic, especially in the figure class.  The novice class featured Mishell Stowe, the lady who won - sorry don't know her name right now but her condition for a first timer was amazing.  The battle between Mishell and her was great to see but she just edged on to win.  The lady who won the Sen Figure was lean and cut too.

So when it came time for the Overall Figure comparison, the crowd were treated to a feast of fine bodies that featured the full and lean Janine Haywood who was the only one in Open against the great condition of nov figure Karen Julian of Whangamata and sen fig winner Linda Hart. Seeing these girls go through their compulsory poses was great and it must've been tough for the judges. But in the end Janine came through and won her 2nd Overall Title this year.

Teresa with Team and Trophy

Dan Amos competed and won the Jnr Men's class so it meant a rematch agains Stan for the Overall Title.  Dan wasn't quite as sharp as he was at BOP, and Stan was slightly leaner so he edged out Dan this time.  Needless to say it was once again a pleasure to watch the guys posedown.

Teresa Edwards had brought a big team from the Coromandle region, which included 3 Shape proteges, won the Team title. This year the new team trophy is appropriately a cowbell which incidentally was crafted by Garth, the NABBA Waikato rep.

Initially when NABBA decided to change the prejudging to 1pm, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the late start. But now that its been implemented and I've been to 3 shows this year with this format, I'm beginning to like it.  Sure you don't start till 1pm, but if its well organised, the show could be over in a couple of hours.  And you only have 2-3 hours to wait till the evening show.  And if evening is run super efficiently, like Shelly and Marty have proven in recent weekends, then it makes competition day a much more pleasureable experience as you don't get too tired(and sometimes bored) by the end of the night.

So big ups to the organisers and NABBA for your forsight and making the shows a much more fun experience for competitors.  Look forward to more shows like these!

Lisa's Happy Snaps
The super cool Hip Hop Group 'Urban Beat' opened the evening show to the explosive sounds of AC/DC's 'Thunderstruck'. The performance featured our own freestylers Jamie Cameron and Naera Johnson getting down with the crew.  Naera and Jamie did a great job and looked like they'd been part of the crew for years!
