The Inaugural River City Classic, this Sat 3 Oct, is the first Body Building competition to be held in W(h)anganui for over 20 years!

Organisers Terry Hills and his local 'man on the ground' Rod Bannister (who's also competing on the day) report that there has been a real little buzz around the City about this event and many of the locals are curious about the sport and Show has had great support from the business community. Rod has been a busy wee body securing commercial sponsors and putting together the entire ad campaign for the Show which has been running on ZM/FM and Classic Hits over the past few weeks.

The Show is expecting athletes from the Taranaki, Waikato, Wellington and of course W(h)anganui, where we hear that the Mayor Michael Laws' partner is going to compete!

W(h)anganui has traditionally had a strong group of athletes that have competed over the years throughout NZ and I bet they are excited at the prospect of showcasing their bods to their local support base in their home City!

We hear that Chris Nel from the Waikato is going to be competing to qualify for a class at the NZFBB Nationals a week later!

A unique event in that it is a qualifier for the NZFBB 2009 and 2010 Nationals.
