Going from Figure to Physique and back again... Tarren McCall's journey to Universe.
Tarren McCall has made some amazing transformations over the years. Although now known as physique competitor, she started off in figure 4 years ago. Tarren said " My first comp, nzfbb..got too lean , and was absolutely petrified,so my posing wasnt that great, had 13 in my class, came 4th..so went on to do Te Kuiti 3 weeks later determined to do better and won that .[.Ali Gasgoine came 2nd.] "
After having a full on successfull 3 years or so,competing in Physique shows both here and internationally,I was selected to represent NZ in the womens physique class at the NABBA UNIVERSE in Germany.
But then came another transition for Tarren. " After much deliberation and encouragement from my friend Jackie Dale at Real Nutrtion, also Nabba officials ,I made the decision to compete in the o/35 figure class. As with the new weight and height rules for figure classes both here and internationally the figure class suited me perfectly."
So I was going to Germany to compete in figure. I had a lot to organise. With a call to dear Ali Gasgoine requesting a" stunning figure costume" in 2 weeks I had that taken Care of, I must say she didnt let me down. I managed to get some of" those shoes" on the internet. Although I didnt get much practice in except for vacumming and doing the cooking in them[much to the amusement of my family].
Next was a lesson from Susan Fleming to brush up on my figure posing, who said figure posing was easy.? I really found the figure posing quite hard ..you have to hold the poses longer and physique is easier without shoes [obviously]
Also figure is quite different today in Nabba ,with leg placing ,for example the front double bicep ,you can have your front leg out front instead of out to the side .

A few weeks later I was off to Germany with friend and fellow competitor Narea Johnson. The Universe show was huge with over 200 competitors and a long day and placing 3rd was more than I could have hoped for so I was really happy. |
The whole NZ team did fantastically well especially Naera. |
