Donelle placed 2nd in the Novice Figure Tall Class at the NZFBB Auckland Champs 2008, 3rd at the Nationals 2009, Elite 2009 - 2nd Novice Figure Tall, ANB Australia - 4th Place Open Figure out of 10 amazing athletes.
With such a busy contest schedule ahead, 31 year old Donelle's has to become quite the Wonder Women especially now that she's recently become the new account manager for Vital Strength in New Zealand. How does she do it?
" At a very fast Pace!!! Ha ha, Im out the door by 5.00am and normally have my training done by latest 7.30 get home organize kids and off to work leaving by 8.30 so very very rushed but good to fit it all in early."
What does her kids think of all this bodybuilding business? "My 5 year old said to me the other day, "mummy You know what I want to be when I grow up? A bodybuilder like you! So cute! The Oldest.......mmm mixed views from liking it to calling it a man sport, although deep down im sure she is proud! "

And what about all those temptations of all the kids biscuits and chips at home "You should see my cupboards, even my friends wonder that, you just learn to I guess, everything you put in your mouth is extra calories, which results in more exercise not really worth it!!! You just get used to it, kids are so lucky!!!"
But Donelle has learned to overcome temptations, she's still eating very close to contest diet "I eat a lot of protein and salads so normally cook mine and Pats (her husband) separate when he is behaving himself that is!".
She's also putting in plenty of hardwork in the gym to maintain her contest body " I do lots of hard training still, Cardio and mixing it up a little, always put out more in cardio than I put in my mouth!!! Just maintain a nice lean body to make it easier for my next comp! Love Running, a new up and coming Training regime a friend is doing (Im sure you will find out about this soon)....

In a typical day Donelle would normally do 45-60 mins cardio straight after a 45-60 min weight session, normally keep it 3-4 sets of each exercise 15 reps dropping to 8-12 heavier towards the end.
Donelle has exceptional leg development which unfortunately overpowers her symmetry so Donelle has been working hard to get them leaner so she normally does 2 leg sessions a week one heavy consisting of Leg Press, Wide/Narrow Squats, Lunges, Leg Extensions and Leg Curls, And Jump Squats or step ups always 3-4 sets still do a lot of 15 but 8-12 for heavier reps.
The 2nd session more light similar excercises but more fast, hard, explosive stuff! "I have to compete really lean to get them down, at the ANB I was 7.4%" Donelle said.

Her ultimate goal is to "Just get better and better each comp really". "And hopefully one day get a judge who loves big muscular legs!! Ha ha I don't want a pro card or anything but love competing and pushing my body to its limits, having a goal makes it so much easier! "
Donelle's advice to Mum's who want to compete is simple " If I can do it, anyone can! I only hit the gym in 2008 and am proud of what I have achieved, 3 kids a full time job, there is no excuses! If you really want it you can do it too! Its hard work don't get me wrong but you feel great!
