Here's an example of her gene in action. There's a set of stairs in Wanganui called the Durie Elevator which leads up to the Wanganui Tower. There are 191 steps in the Elevator. Tower is 33.5m high and has 176 steps. For the normal person, lunging/walking the elevator stairs and a walk afterwards would be enough of a challenging cardio workout.
In a typical day, Jody's gets up at 4.30am to do her 1hr cardio. But that's not all. After cardio, she'll hop in the car to be at the gym by 5.30am. Its no wonder then with her desire that Jody has come a long way in a short time. She began her contest career in 2008 where she won the NABBA open figure short (1st year competing). In 2010 she won the NABBA Ms Hawke's bay figure, Ms Manawatu figure, 1st International figure and overall NABBA Figure at Nationals. And also took out the Overall INBA Ms Sth Pacific figure. This year she has set her sights on the NAC Worlds in Luxumborg in June. Before that she will compete at the NABBA Auckland Champs on 21 May.
Thank you Jody for letting me in on your training session and showing me, and Go Figure viewers, how much dedication and 'crazy' it takes to reach the highest level of competition. Unfortunately none of that crazy has rubbed off on me and I'm still in bed at 4.30am :)
