With the festive season almost upon us, we thought it would be fun to find out what some of our Go Figure pals are up to over the Christmas and New Year period. Who's going to veg out and who's going to stay in shape?!
We'd love to hear what you have planned! What are you looking forward to eating most on Christmas day? are you going to be doing any training? maybe you just want to wish someone a Merry Christmas!
Leave us a reply at the bottom of the page. NB you'll first need to log in at the bottom right hand corner to post your reply. Thanks! |

1. Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day?
Probably not although if we have a hangi I will be doing a fair bit of digging.
2. Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day?
I'll eat what ever I want but I wont eat until I'm full, I'll probably just stick to 3 bigger meals on the day. I'll probably indulge in a Hangi. Meat, veg, spud & stuffing all cooked in the ground. Steam pudding & custard for dessert.

3. If you could ask Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it be?
Could I just have one coulor of hiar please Santa? (Yeh just black please) Te he.
4. If you could invite 3 famous icons to Christmas dinner, who would they be and why?
None of them, as Christmas for me is a time for family, close friends & orphans only.
5. Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio?
No definitely not, I get tons of days off working out with the High Intensity approach, as such I can't wait for the next training day to come. I'll be growing, with a view to shocking everyone when next I compete, probably late 2010.

1. Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day?
Typically Ill knock out a 20-30 minute HIT session- first thing on an empty stomach to pump my metabolism up for the day of calories to come. Plus I significantly drop my carb intake for 3 days prior to confuse my energy systems, so they are welcome on Xmas day.
2. Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day?
Definitely don't restrict myself on Xmas day. In my off-season, I allow myself 2 free days (where I eat whatever I want within in reason- in addition to my nutritious meals) anyhow so no foods are ever restricted. I'll definitely be on the look-out for strawberries covered in melted white or milk chocolate though- perfect combo of indulgence and vitality. Always more rewarding to eat these types of foods when you've exercised some solid self-discipline on the lead-up. |

3. If you could ask Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it be?
Quad assistance please! Weakest point would be sheer lack of mass on my legs. Some German volume of late (10 sets x 10 reps @ 80% of 1RM of squats) seems to be doing the business at the moment. Now I'm in my early 30's, blessing me with a metabolism of my early 20's would be beneficial too!
4. If you could invite 3 famous icons to Christmas dinner, who would they be and why?
Arnold Schwarzenegger- he was a hero growing up from a very early age who had that "super hero" physique and has built a successful career on top of it all. I think it was Conan the Barbarian that first got my attention.
Rich Gaspari would also be a pick- just listening to him makes you feel like you've dropped a giant serve of his pre-workout energy drink SuperPump250- talk about motivational!
Lastly, another childhood hero was Hulk Hogan. I was just in my last year at primary school when the WWF got my attention. I think he'd be a colourful addition to Xmas dinner and have some awesome stories from his glory days on the wrestling scene and transition to date.
5. Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio?
Plan on heading away with my wife and daughter to Cottage on Cooks Beach for 10 days. No doubt Ill knock over a few HITT sessions on the beach early mornings but will give the weights a good rest over this period. Ill need it after all this German Volume training! |

1. Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day?
Hell no - the only exercising I will be doing is with my mouth...eating and drinking
2. Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day?
Nah not "pig out" as such but will def enjoy a few treats...starting with some bubbles

3. If you could ask Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it be?
Hahaha that's an easy one...I'd love to have longer legs, a few inches taller would be great! Being short can sometimes have its advantages when competing, but I'm an ex gymnast with naturally large round quads, so off-season I can just end up looking short and frumpy if I'm not careful haha!.
4. If you could invite 3 famous icons to Christmas dinner, who would they be and why?
Geez umm tricky one...I don't really have any bodybuilders who I idol as such, everyone is unique and fantastic in their own way. It would however, be fun to maybe hang out with someone who is a huge icon like umm Arnold Schwarzenegger (?) or someone of similar status in the bodybuilding circuit.
5. Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio over the christmas/new year period? if not - what you doing??
I will probably take the opportunity to have a rest from the weights between Xmas and New Years as I may head away for a few days break. The rest will do me good as I haven't had much of a break from training since I finished competing in October. But always try and keep the cardio up at this time of year to help with the extra food and alcohol intake... Off season is the hardest for a bodybuilders head space at the best of times and being Xmas can very easily just become an excuse for over indulgence!

Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day?
1. If it is a normal training day I will train. Normal gym will be closed but I can still train at school!
Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day?
2. After lunch it is all on- anything and everything(although I don't eat any sweet treats as I prefer savoury foods anyway.) I will eat chicken, steak, lamb, ham, chops + a few sausages!

If you could ask Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it be?
3. All areas need more muscle!
If you could invite 3 famous icons to christmas dinner, who would they be and why?
4. Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler And Markus Ruhl- we could have an eating competition!
Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio?
5. Training is a break for me. I can't think of anything more fun than when I'm not working and can rock up to the gym at any time to train.

Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day? I'll be house and dog sitting, so I'll probably just do a doggie walk, it'll be good for us both.
Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day?
No, won't be pigging out, just enjoying some nice food and good wine with the family and friends. I'll be looking forward to Christmas dinner with my kids. This year we're having turkey and something light for dessert probably (not sure what yet)

If you could ask Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it be?
Hmmm not sure. Legs maybe ( if he could make them longer that would be good ha ha).
If you could invite 3 famous icons to Christmas dinner, who would they be and why?
Lenda Murray, Cory Everson and Arnie. All legends.
Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio?
I'll be working through Christmas, so probably train when I can and walk the dog ofcourse. I'm hoping to go away in the New Year so definitely have short break then.

Do you plan to do any exercise on christmas day?
Absolutely not on xmas day!
Are you going to pig out or are you going to watch what you eat on Christmas day?
I will be eating anything I feel like. I always look forward to the desserts, have a naturally very sweet tooth :) As long as I have my protein meals in the off season, I pretty much eat what I feel like.

If you could ask Santa to change one area of your physique, what would it be?
Hmmmm to be honest I am pretty happy with my physique, but if I had to really pick something it would prob be my triceps.
If you could invite 3 famous icons to Christmas dinner, who would they be and why?
Two female bodybuilder that I admire would be Cory Everson and Laura Creavalle. Both these women have/had fantastic bodies with great amounts of muscle but look very feminine. They havent taken things to the extreme where they start loosing there female charactertistics.
Are you going to give yourself a break from training/cardio?
I have some big plans for next year with competing so will be taking 10 days off the gym at Christmas while away, and looking forward to it. I am learning to listen to my body and believe rest is just as important as training. Have made so many gains with incorporating more rest into my training schedule. |

Not sure about me though, Mum's up. The first time we've had christmas together for a few years so spoiling her with a buffet lunch at a nice hotel. She (or I) can't cook you see so saves us eating out of cans this year ha ha.
Christmas day will probably first begin with a walk with Trix. Dogs don't care if its rain, hail or christmas so its the same routine every morning. Then she'll probably want an evening one as well so that'll be working off the christmas feed.
Over the holidays I'll still be training people so I probably will train since I'll be at the gym anyway. I'm sure most of us won't know what to do with ourselves if we didn't go to gym. Sorry lot aren't we? but in good health and body though!
Have a great christmas everyone whatever you eat and do.
Lisa
Just a bit of vension and chicken on the bbq and a few salads with a piece of camembert cheese (or two!). Gotta have a bit of Xmas pudding though!! Like Stacey can't be bothered with the stomach cramps after over indulging. Will enjoy some nice cafe lunches when we hit Auckland in the New Year when I'm sure we can encourage Lisa into indulging with us!!??
Have a great Christmas everyone and enjoy whatever you do end up eating and drinking!
Jill
Thanks for reinstating comments!! Merry Christmas Lisa
