Thank goodness that was my last heavy training day! for the past couple of months I've been training pretty hard and heavy endeavouring to put a bit more muscle on.  And my body's feeling it.  I'm feeling tired and achy and I know I've hit my peak with the weights I'm pushing.

I've achieved some good lifts for me.  Managed to squat 67.5kg, deadlift 70kg, one arm row 27.5kg, bench press 57.5kg.  Not so happy with dumbell shoulder press as only up to 35lb.  Shoulders is my weakest part so the focus will still be on building some boulder shoulders in a couple week's time.

But first its time for a rest after the hard effort I've put in the gym and into my work at go figure and my clients.  So I'm off on a well deserved holiday to Melbourne, Yay, the shopping capital of Australia.  Well I think it is anyway.

Feels like ages since I've travelled anywhere. Oh that's right there was Samoa but that wasn't exactly a holiday as I was too busy stressing out about competing!
But you know us bodybuilders, we never really take a rest especially when it comes to food do we?  already I've packed a few cans of tuna and chop chop chicken, protein powder, couple packets of Sunrise basmati rice and some HPLC bars. On the plane I'll probably open a can of tuna or chop chop to go with the onboard meals.  I know some bodybuilders who take their own food on planes but I reckon, I'm on holiday, I can afford to have that overcooked piece of chicken and bit of friend rice drowned in oil....or soggy potato.  Whatever the case maybe.  I enjoy eating from the little compartments and all the condiments that come with it. However I do stop at opening the cheese, crackers and the biscuits that go with it.  I pass that on to my partner so he can have the calories!

I know they probably have all these things in Melbourne ie tuna, bars etc, but I just need these on hand as it saves so much hassel looking for supermarkets.  Even when I'm home I'm armed with these goodies in the car as I'd hate to be stuck without food.  My friends had a giggle when I ripped out my HPLC bar when we were out for drinks the other night.  But hey, a gal's got to eat and a protein bar's so much healthier than the gourmet burger and chips that was on the menu.  Although it did smell oh so nice.

Since I'm holiday mode, I won't get too strict with myself about food.  Sure I'm still going to choose the healthiest options ie go for clean protein with veges and some carbs.  But sometimes this won't be available, and I'm not going to get stressed out searching for food, so I'll probably have more carbs than I normally would which I'll just reason it to muscle building. I'm only away a few days how much damage can I do?!!!  eeek spare the thought.  Actually I'm pretty good with my food, usually too good so this will good chance for me to have forced rest.

However there won't be rest from exercise!  rest from weight training for sure but no rest from cardio.  I probably won't do full on cardio as I don't think the hotel I'm in has cardio gear, so I'll just have to be forced into doing cardio during shopping, awe what shame!  Hope to spend most of my time at the indoor malls as I hear the weather is going to be super hot.

Sample Image  Shopping is a great low-impact cardio workout where you can burn up to 150 calories an hour. Walking at a moderate to fast pace while checking out different stores can increase the heart rate and give the legs and thighs a total body workout. Also I'm planning on buying a few things so carrying the bags will add some resistance weight to my shopping too.

So I'm off shortly for a well earned break and some serious exercising of my wallet!  see you when I get back.

In the meantime, train hard everyone!
