CLA or CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is not a new product but its certainly been a new addition to my supplement regime to help enhance my fat loss goals for 2013.

Along with Protein Powder and BCAAs, I'd definitely recommend CLA as a staple in your diet regime as CLA can help accelerate your metabolism and channel fat stores to be used as an energy source. After a couple of weeks on CLA I found its helped me have a little more energy in the gym - and in general daily life. With more energy, I've been able to lift more and hopefully this will mean muscle growth!

What CLA Does In Your Body
When you take in the required amount of CLA, your body is able to decrease the amount of fat that enters your cells. It does this by increasing the speed that your metabolism processes food and what it does with the nutrients that it takes from what you consume. With enough CLA, a fatty acid found in linoleic acid, your body takes the fat from the foods you consume and sends it through your bloodstream to your muscle cells and liver to provide energy.

When fat is sent to your muscle cells and liver, you benefit from increased energy because fat is processed more efficiently that way. If the fat gets stuck in other cells, it doesn’t produce the energy you need and it ends up accumulating into body fat.

Some of the most known suggested benefits of CLA supplementation include:

  • Increased metabolic rate -- This would obviously be a positive benefit for any type of athlete that is trying to lose weight and improve body composition.
  • Enhanced muscle growth -- Muscle burns fat, which also contributes to increased metabolism, which is useful in weight loss and management.
  • Lowers cholesterol and triglycerides -- Since many people these days have elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, even with treatment, this benefit can have an impact on any person who has high cholesterol.
  • Lowers insulin resistance -- Lowering insulin resistance has been shown to help prevent adult-onset diabetes and make it easier to control weight.
  • Reduces food-induced allergic reactions -- Since food allergies can be at play when weight loss becomes difficult, this can be of help.
  • Enhances immune system - With the variety of bacteria and poor immune systems in contemporary society, enhancing the immune system's ability to function properly is a positive benefit to all.

If you would like a basic supplement that may improve your fat metabolism and energy, I'd definitely say give the CLA a go and help you looking great for 2013!
