Most women have a special connection with their hair. They have to make many important decisions about it like whether to cut it, colour it, grow it, perm it, straighten it or in Carol's case Shave it!

Yes Carol Robson is going to brave the razor and going to shave her hair for cancer. Carol who'll be competing in the Senior Figure Class at the ProFormance CNI Bodybuilding Champs on 25 Sept in Tauranga, will have her hair shaved after the prejudging show in an effort to raise funds for the Breast Cancer foundation.

She has set up a fundraising page and would value your contribution

If any other women (or men) are brave enough to share in Carol's experience and shave their head on the day, they're more than welcome to join in!

Go Figure will be there to capture every snippet of Carol's brave feat.

Good on you Carol!!!

What inspired you to do this breave feat?
I am shaving off my hair for a good cause.  I have been wanting to cut my hair off for a little while now, but waiting for the worst part of winter to be over and when I heard that Kaye was organising a competition for Breast Cancer I thought it was the perfect opportunity to also raise money and just go the whole hog and grow my hair short.

Brave or daring, I'm not sure.  Standing on a stage in a bikini is brave and daring.  I do like to challenge myself though, but no, I have never done anything quite like this.

Have you prepared yourself for the aftermath of having your hair shaved?
I am actually trying not to think about it too much.  Staying more focussed on the training and in particular the diet.   I'll just go with the flow I guess.  I am a little bit nervous I guess, but I'll just deal with it at the time.  (I do keep telling myself that sufferers go through a hell of a lot worse).  So maybe that is called mentally preparing myself.

Do you know women affected by breast cancer?
I do know of a lot of woman who have been affected by this disease.  I know of a couple who have passed on, some in remission or had the all clear.   I haven't read a lot about the statistics, but in my mind I feel the percentage is a lot higher than it was say 30 or so years ago.  Not only in breast cancer, but in cancer generally and it is frightening.

Why did you choose Breast Cancer Foundation?
I think the Breast Cancer Foundation is such a great cause because there seems to be so many woman with this horrible disease these days and I sympathise.  There certainly needs to be more awareness and research on the matter and that goes for all cancers.

So to have my hair shaved is not about being brave nor a feat compared to what other woman and sufferers have been through or gone through, my hair will grow back.  So if I can do my little bit this time round and raise a little money towards this cause then thats all good.  My concern really has been about not raising a sufficient amount of money  than having a head shave.
