NABBA 'Top of the South' Update: 30 athletes. Includes 3 couples, 4 sen phys, 3 sen fig, 1 shape, Ash (who won the overall fig in Sth Is.) is the only Nov Fig Short and Lisa Bellingham only one in Open Figure. Jamil, the guy who won overall physique at Sth Is last weekend, is competing today so probably up against Alex Simays in the Open Physique class. Stefan Preddy and Greg Mawson did battle in the Open Athletic class, this could be a close one from what we've heard.

Thanks to Lisa Weir who's been texting us hardout with her updates. Here's a summary of what's been going on in Blenheim.  This was Lisa's first NABBA show! wonder why its taken her so long to get to one. Apparently there were 10 judges judging at this one.  In addition to above numbers there was 1 teenage and 4 athletic men and 4 masters men. Karen Kessell was also in a combined class of 4 in Fig. Lisa Bellingham looked hard and full, and gorgeous in a pink Jo Rogers bikini. In the Open Men class it was young Dylan Stephens up against expeirenced Alex Simiays and Jamil, and one other open guy.

Winners: Lise Burnett, Sen phys. Karen Kessell, Sen Fig. Lisa Bellingham, Open Fig.

Overall Winners: Alex Simays, Phys. Karen Kessel, Fig. Lise Burnett, Phys. Alviro Yance, Athletic.

Thanks Lisa W!

NZFBB Nationals Qualification Rule Change - effective from September 22, 2009
A motion "to allow figure and body shape competitors to switch between both categories if they prefer to do so at the nationals when they qualify from either category", has now been passed by the committee majority vote and will take effect immediately.

What are your thoughts on this issue? Go Figure doesn't need the drama so please, if you have something to say on this issue go to nzbb.co.nz to see what people are saying about this quick move just 2 weeks from the Nationals.  OK, since you're asking. We do have one word. Chaos!!!

Chris (ath) and Ash (fig)
Overall Winners
There were 24 athletes, 2 shape (Melanie McConnell and Cathy Burnell), 3 short fig (Ash Foote, Wainaria Honerana and Maria Thatcher),2 fig tall (Steph Dealoll and Katie Pennicott)and 2 fig +45 (Donna Harvey and Trish Anderson).

Stand out class was easily the novice fig short. Announced in evening show they had placed all 3 equally and had to re-judge them. Ashleigh won then won overall figure and best performance.

Chris won novice athletic and overall athletic. Chris and Ash were the only
couple so they won of course. Open phy men was a good class. Phil Musson is big again and the winner Jamil Rehman was awesome!

This Saturday 3 Oct is also the NABBA 'Top of the South' contest in Blenheim. We're sure Mark Anderson, contest organiser, has been busy putting the show together and creating plenty of interest from athletes and townsfolk alike about this comp and the show should be a sell out at the Marlborough Civic Theatre.

Some athletes that we know of making the trek down are Greg Mawson, Alex Simays, Lisa Bellingham.  Rumour has it that a team of 6 are going down from Palmerston North. There's 15 from Blenheim and possibly 12 from Nelson and others from around the traps.

Hope you're ready for them all Mark!!
