Its half way through the year. Some of you have made the commitment to compete in a bodybuilding contest. Some of you are dieting to get into better shape for summer, special occasion or just self satisfaction. So far you're doing great you haven't been tempted to sneak in any treats during the day, but sometimes, at night you have the temptation to sneak in a Tim Tam or bowl of ice cream.
During the day you're completely focused on your day ie planning your meals, work, workout and
making sure you take in take in good quality nutrients. Your diet and your body is on track, and you
don't even have the slightest desire to cheat. Then, something happens. Night falls. You have time to
sit in front of the telly and you see ads for the delicious snack foods pop up on the screen.
You suddenly start to think 'Mmm think I could be hungry'. But are you really?

Its taken a few days to get used to the tart taste of the apple cider vinegar but I have gotten used to my wakeup drink rather than my cup of black coffee. The coffee gives my heart a kickstart to the day but the the vinegar gives my digestive system a kickstart...if you know what I mean.  Since taking the drink I'm passing alot of water like the Niagra falls! so I probably have lost weight through water loss rather than fat.

For the first 3 days I took the vinegar 3 times a day before meals (may as well go hard and do it properly eh?!).  2tsp in a cup of water.  Who would've thought 2 tsp can be so potent but this stuff sure is strong.  The first couple days were a challenge but like I said, once I got used to the taste it was fine.  A friend recommended me put some ginger into it but that sounds more complicated.  I mean grate ginger then put it in is too fidly eh. I've had to eat worse tasting food so this vinegar was a sinch.

Generally the vinegar has been great for keeping my hunger pangs at bay and I feel fuller after meals. I feel clearer and less bogged down and bloated.  My eyes and skin look and feel clearer too. During the first week I deliberately upped my complex and fibrous carbs while cutting back on red meat.  This is to help easier digestion and 'movement' of food through my digestive system and speed up the detoxifying process. Plus ofcourse I was drinking alot more water.

I've had quite a gastronomic weekend and I've got the tight waistband prove it! First up Lisa Bellingham spoiled me with a super early birthday breakfast shout at the Langham hotel.  Its not actually my birthday for another 5 weeks but Lisa B thought since the Women's show was cancelled and there might not be another free weekend before my real birthday, this was probably a good time to catch up properly rather than just passing each other at the show.

left: Lisas being little piggies...but not so little when we finished.
So off we went to the Langham hotel to be tempted by all the mouth watering delights of a breakfast buffet.  We didn't make the mistake of sitting too close to the buffet as it would be way too tempting to reach over to the food too often if it was too close.

Being about 10 metres away also meant we got to do some cardio to work off the food we just ate and since I was too lazy to go back and forth too often, I saved myself a few cals by not going up to buffet for extra food.

Its almost that time of year, the flu season.  Well actually its started with the swine flu hasn't it?!!  that came and went pretty quick but I thought I'd talk about training while you're sick, and whether you should do it or not as I'm sure some of you will have to deal with this dilemma in upcoming months.
You know that 'cold' feeling. Your head starts to feel stuffy, your energy levels aren't as good in the gym, you're hardly pushing the weights you did a week ago.

You've been feeling lightheaded getting up from your chair and even walking 10mins is making you feel tired. You think 'uh oh I might be I think I'm coming down with a cold' but you still go to gym and try to train eventhough your head tells you otherwise. 15min into your training you feel very hot and bothered and feeling light headed. That scenario sounds familiar?

I'm wondering how many of you have continued to train even though you know you should rest? Nothing can bring a bodybuilder's progress to a halt more than when you are sick. But for most of us,
its we've been programmed to go to gym and feel if we missed a day or two, we'll get fat or lose
any gains we've made in the gym.
