Alot can change in 3 years, just take a look at Donelle Petelo for the proof!

Watching Donelle's svelt figure on stage, its hard to believe that she could've ever been 93kg but in 2008 that was how much she was carting around.  Back then she was busy raising her 3 children (now 3, 5 and 14 years old) and didn't do any exercise.

After the birth of her son Donelle went to see a nutritionist, none other than Alison Rainbow, to get her weight off.  Which she did, 37kg infact. During that time she also worked for Alison at RNC and saw the amazing girls that Alison was helping which inspired Donelle to compete.  And the rest they say is history and Donelle's living her health and fitness dream in a new body!

Kirsten train with kettlebells
We search far and wide for Wonder Women stories and none come further away than Kirsten Tulloch!

Kirsten (who used to live in Tauranga) now lives in the Shetland Islands which is probably as far as you can get from the hustle and bustle of big city.  The closest city is Aberdeen which is an hour flight - or a 14 hour ferry ride away! Shetland is in fact closer to Norway that it is Scotland.  That's remote.

Since moving there, not only is Kirsten experience new scenery but also a change in training style.  She's traded in her barbells for kettlebells and is now becoming quite the Kettlebell Queen.

In this Q&A we find out what life is like on the Shetlands and why more of us should do Kettlebell training.

Seeing Kara O'Halloran on stage was a rare sighting akin to seeing Hayley's comet - in that she doesn't compete that often. So we decided to catch her for an interview before she goes off into hiding until her next show...whenever that maybe!

When we saw Kara backstage at the INBA Natural Classic Auckland, she looked lean and on form. But it wasn't till she stepped under the lights that we saw just what great condition she was in and amongst the excellent lineup of Open girls that day, Kara really stood out.

For Kara, competing isn't about trophies and the number of comps she can do. Bodybuilding comes second after her family and contests are done if they fit in with her lifestyle which makes Kara a unique figure indeed!

Its been two years since we saw the gorgeous little figure of SportsModel competitor Nuria Novoa but wait no more! Christchurch's pocket rocket is back and ready to jump back into action at the NABBA/WFF contest on 1 May.

She has had a set back with a knee injury but she's managing to work around that, and an extremely busy University schedule, to participate in the sport she loves.

Here we ask how she's coping with everything!

 1. when was last time you competed and why are you making a comeback?

My last show was Nabba in April 2008 (Fitness Model Class). The reason I haven't been competitive at anything since then is I ruptured my ACL while coaching sport aerobics in late 08 and due to my extreme flexibility they had to repair this with the patella tendon rather than hamstring making rocvery and rehab post surgery more painful and drawn out.

I've really missed being competitive, I'm getting back to the stage where I can push myself again. I'm training in a gym with a great enviroment - Canterbury Sports Performance Center in ChCh (which is home to clubs such as eatside barbell and eastside strong man), which has been a great change for me. Everyone is relaxed, friendly and nothing but positive and supportive of all other memebrs so it's a great place to train when wanting to get results. I believe they will have a sponsors stand at the show :)
