Jacqui Jarrett recently battled it out with some of America's best Pro Figures at her 2nd Pro Figure comp, the Anaheim Tournament of Champions on Saturday 20 September in Los Angeles.
There were 17 girls in Jacqui's line up and Jacqui looked more rounded and softer for this comp, but still with great condition.  We've been told that Jacqui has pretty much travelled and competed without too much support, so well done Jacqui for having the get up and go to do it yourself.

Johanna Mountfort placed 2nd in the Novice Figure Short class at the NZFBB Akl Champs in June and now she's all revved up to hit the stage again at the NZFBB Nationals in Wellington.  Looking lean, Johanna (30) looks like she's ready to just put on a coat of tan and step on stage today! Thanks to her background in ballet and naturally athletic genes Johanna's transition to bodybuilding seems effortless but according to Johanna there was still plenty of hardwork especially when organising her family duties as well.

What is even more surprising about Johanna's awesome figure is that she competed in the Akl Champs only just 9 months after her 2nd child was born! Johanna also has a three year old daughter.

So lets find out more about this energetic PT (at Just Workout Forrest Hill) and how she copes with her active lifestyle admist preparing for the Nationals.

* was the June comp your first? and why did you want to compete in that?
NZFBB Auckland Champs in June 2008 was my first comp. I had actually hoped to compete for the first time in 2007, but when discovering I was pregnant for the 2nd time, I reluctantly put my aspirations on hold. In 2008, someone who I respect (and was experienced in Bodybuilding) encouraged me to compete and promised to help me for my first one, so I agreed.

Steve and Jenni
With 20 years of training and competing under her belt, Jenni Douglas has decided that this will be her swansong year (yeah right!). To make it a memorable final year on stage, she's got some big goals in mind. Firstly to compete and win the NABBA Masters Physique class in Wellington and then step up to the Open class at the Nationals with the aim of taking that too.

Jenni with Lisa
With such big ambitions, she's called in the services of Stephen Shilelds, the Slow Protocol maestro to help her pack on some size - which from what I saw at her training session, she's achieved.

For those who know the Slow Protocol method, you'll know that its hard work but Jenni just revels in it.  Jenni is pushing and pulling some big weights and to do it so slowly is quite a feat, and hard to believe that this is a 58 year old lady doing so! Just watching her train was tiring.

In the 6 months that Jenni has had Steve take the reigns of her training, she's packed on 5kg of muscle - not bad for a lady close to 60 (I mean that in the nicest possible way Jenni!).

Viola, Sept 07

Viola Etuata, winner of the South Pacific Bodybuilding Champs o57kg class in 07, has set her eyes on a bigger prize beyond the pacific ocean. This year she's representing Samoa, the first ever female Samoan to represent, at the IFBB Women's Worlds in October.

To be competitive against the big international girls, Viola's had to put on some size.  Not that she wasn't big before! but she's been working hard under the guidance of seasoned samoan pocket rocket Eleanor Stewart to pack on the mass. Which she has done naturally quite well and has reached the weight of 72kg at the start of her pre contest plan.

Viola, May 08
With 5 months until her contest, Viola tries in this first phase to fit in at least 1hr cardio sessions daily - sometimes another 1hr when she can during the day. Plus she has started her dieting to get leaner. Her and Elle are aiming for Viola's contest weight to be around 59kg ripped and full on the day!

And we'll be watching. We'll be dropping in on Viola's progress every month to see what changes has been happening via a video update/diary. See Viola's before pics below and her heavy duty workout with Elle.

Here is Viola's first video diary. Check out her compulsory and structural poses. Chest/Tri training and her thoughts on competing on a big international stage for the first time.
